Super Bowl Ads and DOMAIN NAMES

Posted February 8, 2010 by

What a GREAT Super Bowl for Domain Names, domain awareness, and domain owners. First, Google’s Ad, which was the best done Super Bowl ad in my lifetime. It’s intuitiveness and understated approach was all it needed to be. Amazing that they have come so far that the ad they aired sufficed.  Yes , it is the case that STILL so many of the people running large brands, corporations, and ad agencies have zero understanding of how search and the Internet works and how critical category generic dotcom domain names are to search engine performance, optimization,as well as repeat visitation and conversion (with apologies to the folks at places like Monster.com, J&J, P&G, Glaxo, and other Fortune 100 companies that “get it”). Google’s Super Bowl add subtly helped us all by bringing search even more into the minds of marketers and business people worldwide.

Secondly, GO DADDY.  We must continuously shout out to Bob Parsons for both  giving us some Soft Porn, a nakedish Danica Patrick, but more importantly, putting the 2 words DOMAIN NAMES in front of billions of people 2 times on the biggest global stage of the year.

We are early folks, and Google and GO DADDY are doing things to help us all.
